Alone Fold.

My name is Scott Beardow. This website is my way of presenting my music to the world.

I have been composing this kind of music for about eight years now. It has not been a continuous process. There were a few years of travelling there, and then a year of saving up money to get a studio. Then there was the sound design; the programming; and the wonderful indulgence of playing and learning. Then later, much later, came the music.

I have always enjoyed music without structure. Steve Reich, Brian Eno, Erik Satie and ambient. The musical themes in such music are often hidden, glimpsed and implied. It is this implication - these implications of wonder that fascinate me. A melody is bent; it remains out of focus; uncertain. It is almost unconscious. Was there even a melody there? But it is gone now. It will never to be repeated.

A Roland JP8080 synthesizer, my Nord modular synthesizer and an Eventide H7600 harmonizer fed through a mixer and recorded into my laptop. Followed by days and months of quiet nights tweeking and sculpting until I can stand no more; and then I start again.

For the last several years I have been composing under the name of extone. I have a myspace page and an mp3.com.au page where you can find the music I released under that name. I will also be adding my old archive of breakbeat driven ambient music to this site soon.
